IsarMUN Preparation

Rules of Procedure
A former MUN experience is not obligatory for the participation in IsarMUN 2009. However, we will highly recommend to you the participation in our Rules of Procedure workshop if you have already partaken in 3 MUNs or less. In the workshop we will provide you with the basic knowledge about the Rules of Procedure. You will find the IsarMUN Rules of Procedure here.

Position Paper
Each committee topic should be addressed briefly in a policy statement representing the relevant views of your assigned country, NGO, or expert role. You should also include recommendations for action to be taken by your committee. All papers must be typed and formatted accordingly:

• If printed, length must not exceed one double-sided page (two single-sided pages is not acceptable)
• Font must be Times New Roman sized between 10 pt. and 12 pt.
• Country/NGO name, School name and committee name clearly labeled on the first page
• Agenda topics clearly labeled in separate sections

Please send your Position Paper to the Chairs until 01.12.2009 !

Please note that unfortunately we had problems with the UNFCCC Email account- therefore please send your Position Paper to info@isarmun.de. Thank you!

Resolutions
IsarMUN highly recommends extensive use of academic books, scholarly journals, newspaper articles, and official documents or other literature provided by bodies associated with the United Nations in order to prepare for IsarMUN. A useful help for later resolution writing will be a list of Preambular and Operative Clauses which you will find here

IIsarMUN Diplomatic Behavior

While participating in the IsarMUN conference, delegates have a res-ponsibility to always maintain the highest level of professionalism and diplomacy. Professionalism in speech, actions, and appearance on behalf of delegates is a requirement of this conference and necessary to its educational mission.

Delegates are expected to:
•Remain “in character” at all times by consistently advocating the  interests and representing the policies of the country assigned. To act “in character” also entails displaying respect for the opinions
and ideas of fellow delegates, even if these opinions and ideas  conflict with a given delegate’s own country priorities.
•Collaborate with fellow delegates where possible.
•Conduct themselves in a courteous and professional manner at all times.

Dress Code:

All clothing must adhere to guidelines that portray professiona-lism and modesty. If a delegate’s attire is deemed inappropriate by the NMUN staff, the delegate will be asked to leave the session and return with appropriate attire.

•Standard delegate attire for the conference is business jacket, slacks (or skirts for women), dress shirt (with tie for men) and dress shoes.
•Dress sweaters, shorts, ball caps, jeans, sneakers and sunglasses are considered too casual. Clothes that expose excessive bare skin or are otherwise revealing are inappro-priate.
